UPDATEYUK - The government, through the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), has begun investigating information regarding alleged receipt of money by several students who previously participated in a demonstration and attended a meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, at the Vice Presidential Palace.

This step was taken following widespread public discussion about alleged fund flows to student action participants that took place in the Patung Kuda area, Central Jakarta, in mid-June 2026.

As of now, the government admits it is still gathering information and cannot provide further response regarding the developing issue.

Kemensetneg States Information is Still Being Verified

Originating from a Student Clarification Forum

This polemic began after an open forum was held on June 22, 2026, discussing the issue of alleged paid actions following student demonstrations in the Patung Kuda area, Central Jakarta.

The forum was held to respond to various information circulating on social media regarding alleged money given to action participants.

Previously, as many as 15 student representatives from Bung Karno University (UBK) and Mohammad Husni Thamrin University Jakarta were known to have been received by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice Presidential Palace.

In the meeting, the students conveyed various aspirations regarding several developing national issues.

However, after the meeting, allegations of fund flows to several action participants emerged, which then triggered debates within campus circles and on social media.

Student Confessions Become Public Spotlight

Public attention increased after several videos and information circulated on social media showing the confession of the Head of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Law, UBK, Muhammad Abdimaludin, or Abdi.

Based on the circulating information, Abdi reportedly admitted to receiving funds from a police officer before the demonstration and the audience with the Vice President took place.

The funds were then reportedly distributed to several student organization officials and other action participants.

Nevertheless, this information is still part of claims circulating on social media and has not yet been independently verified.

As of the writing of this news, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the circulating confessions or the alleged fund flows to the student action participants.

Meanwhile, Kemensetneg stated that it is still conducting investigations to ascertain the developing facts before providing an official explanation to the public.
