Previously Linked to Allegations of Paid Crowds

Before being appointed as a commissioner, Ginka's name had drawn public attention in reports revealing alleged mobilization of paid crowds at a demonstration that took place in August 2025.

In the reports circulating at the time, the BISON organization was mentioned as being involved in mobilizing demonstration participants using specific operational funds. These findings were also conveyed by several elements of civil society in a fact-finding forum held after the demonstration.

Nevertheless, this issue remains part of public debate and resurfaced after the announcement of her appointment as Commissioner of PT Pertamina Retail.

Ginka's appointment as Commissioner of PT Pertamina Retail at the end of June 2026 has generated pros and cons among the public.

Some parties believe that the presence of young figures in SOEs can represent leadership regeneration and open space for the new generation to be involved in the management of state-owned companies.

However, on the other hand, many question Ginka's professional experience, especially since her track record is more known in the field of organizations and political volunteers rather than in the energy or corporate sectors.

To date, there has been no detailed explanation from PT Pertamina Retail or the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises regarding the specific considerations underlying the appointment of Ginka Febriyanti Ginting as commissioner.

The ensuing debate has evolved into a broader discussion about the transparency of the appointment process for officials within SOEs, the implementation of good corporate governance principles, and the balance between competence, experience, and the representation of the younger generation in strategic positions of state-owned companies.
