Alleged Fund Flow to UBK Students Emerges, Police Chief's Name Also Mentioned
UPDATEYUK - Allegations of fund transfers to several students of Bung Karno University (UBK) after participating in a demonstration in Central Jakarta have become a public spotlight. The issue emerged after a video circulated on social media showing the confessions of several students regarding the receipt of money after the action took place.
This polemic developed amidst public attention towards a meeting between student representatives and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, which took place at the Vice Presidential Palace in mid-June 2026.
Video of Alleged Money Receipt Goes Viral on Social Media
The discussion about the alleged giving of money to students became more lively after the Instagram account @sociocorner uploaded a video that then spread widely on various social media platforms.
In the video, several UBK students are said to have received money amounting to Rp20 million. The circulating recording of the conversation also mentioned the term "Kapolda" when discussing the origin of the funds.
The video immediately triggered various public reactions because it was linked to a demonstration previously held by students in the Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (15/6/2026).
Previously, some students who participated in the action were known to have attended a meeting with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice Presidential Palace.
"The action was also attended by student representatives who were received by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice Presidential Palace for more than an hour," according to a statement quoted on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
However, to date, there is no evidence showing a connection between the meeting and the alleged fund transfers that are currently being discussed.
UBK Students Hold Open Clarification Forum
Following the development of this issue, the Student Executive Body (BEM) and Student Association (HIMA) of Bung Karno University held an open clarification forum in front of the Bung Karno Statue, UBK Chemistry Campus, Central Jakarta, on Monday (22/6/2026).
The forum was held as an effort to answer various questions that arose among students and the public regarding the alleged giving of money to action participants.
"The forum was held to respond to the developing issue regarding the alleged giving of money in the action," said one of the student representatives.
The event was attended by several student organization officials, including those whose names were mentioned in the video circulating on social media.
In the forum, Muhammad Abdi, who serves as the Head of BEM of the Faculty of Law UBK, provided an explanation regarding the developing polemic. Several other students who were mentioned as receiving funds also attended to provide clarification.
Confession About Rp20 Million Fund Becomes Spotlight
In the clarification forum, Abdi admitted to the receipt of Rp20 million. According to him, the funds came from an individual with the initials "An".
This statement then drew broader attention because it related to the source of funds that has not yet been officially verified.
In the same forum, the Deputy Head of BEM of the Faculty of Economics and Business UBK also admitted to receiving money given through Abdi.
"I received it from Chairman Abdi as the Head of BEM FH. And at that time, the Head of BEM FH received it directly, whether from a senior or from the Kapolda, amounting to Rp20 million," he said.

This statement then became one of the most discussed parts by the public, especially because of the mention of the term "Kapolda" in the clarification forum.
However, to date, there is no certainty regarding the party referred to in the statement. There is no evidence to suggest that the term refers to a specific official.
No Official Statement Yet from Related Parties
In addition to the alleged receipt of Rp20 million, other confessions have also emerged on social media regarding alleged larger sums of money given to students.
This issue has led to demands from several UBK students for the parties mentioned in the polemic to provide open clarification to the public.
As of the writing of this news, there has been no official statement from the Vice Presidential Palace or Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka regarding the developing issue.
On the other hand, there is no evidence to suggest the involvement of the Palace in the alleged giving of funds to students who attended the meeting.
The campus authorities and law enforcement agencies have also not yet provided an official explanation regarding the results of their investigation or further developments related to the alleged fund transfers that are now a public concern.
