KPK Investigates DJKA Railway Project Corruption Case

Budi explained that the examination is being conducted to delve into various facts related to the alleged corruption in the railway construction and maintenance project that occurred within the DJKA of the Ministry of Transportation.

This case is one of the largest corruption cases ever handled by the KPK in the railway sector. Investigators continue to trace the involvement of several parties, including alleged fund flows related to these projects.

The summons of Ferdian Suryo is expected to help uncover the roles of various parties allegedly involved in these corrupt practices.

Originating from KPK's Sting Operation in 2023

This alleged railway project bribery case began with a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK at the Class I Railway Engineering Center for Central Java Region on April 11, 2023.

The center has since been renamed the Class I Semarang Railway Engineering Center.

From the development of the investigation, the KPK initially named 10 people as suspects. However, the number of suspects continued to increase as new facts were discovered during the investigation process.

As of January 20, 2026, the KPK has named and detained 21 suspects in this case. One of the names implicated is Sudewo, a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019–2024 period.

In addition to individuals, the KPK has also named two companies as corporate suspects in this case.

Several Strategic Projects Become Objects of Investigation

The KPK's investigation covers several railway construction and maintenance projects in various regions.

Some of the projects included in the investigation are the Solo Balapan–Kadipiro–Kalioso double-track railway construction, railway construction in Makassar, four construction projects and two railway supervision projects in Lampegan, Cianjur, as well as the repair of level crossings in Java and Sumatra.

The KPK suspects that there was manipulation of project winners through engineering of the goods and services procurement process.

This practice is suspected to have been carried out from the administrative stage to the tender winner determination process, thereby providing benefits to certain parties in the implementation of railway projects.

Investigators are currently delving into various witness testimonies to comprehensively uncover the mechanism of alleged corruption that occurred in these projects.
